The government of the Republic of Korea will provide a $1 million contribution to the California Community Foundation’s (CCF) Wildfire Recovery Fund, to support relief and recovery efforts in Los Angeles County. Home to the largest Korean population in the United States, the donation underscores the Korean government’s commitment to supporting the recovery of communities impacted by the local disaster.

"The people of Korea stand in solidarity with the residents of Los Angeles during this difficult time," said Mr. Youngwan Kim, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Los Angeles. "We appreciate having the opportunity to support critical aid efforts that will help neighborhoods recover and rebuild."

“We are so grateful to have support, not only from our neighbors across the County and state - but all over the world,” said CCF CEO & President Miguel Santana. “We thank the Korean Government for their contribution which helps us fuel much-needed support to families across Los Angeles.”

State and local leaders thanked the Consulate for their generous support of Los Angeles in its time of need:

“In Los Angeles, we stand together – that’s how we move forward from times of crisis. I want to thank the Korean Government for their remarkable support for Angelenos who are rebuilding their homes, their lives and their communities. Home to the largest Korean community outside of Korea, our LA is stronger and more vibrant because of our partnership and connection. We are LA Strong,” said Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.

“I am continually heartened by the compassion and commitment of people who have extended a helping hand to our communities when they need it most,” Chair Kathryn Barger said. “My deepest thanks to our friends in Korea for this generous gift. Our partners, both locally and globally, will play a very important role in our County’s recovery.”
